A mystic can often find a spiritual meaning in any place where they look, but in the logo of a Spiritual Order there ought to be some meaning! Let us dive into a meditation on the contents of the above logo:
- The outer red circle represents the Oneness of Divinity, reminding us that the Three Persons of The Holy Trinity exist as One God, the supreme Divinity which contains all existence inside of itself, and from which all, both spiritual and material, has sprung forth.
- The Sun, being the center of our Solar System, is symbolic of God the Father, who is central to our existence, from whom all things in existence have sprung forth and have their being.
- The Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth, and resurrection, being able to rise again from ashes after it’s death. The Phoenix represents Jesus Christ, who rose again after suffering his sacrificial death, through which we are brought back to the fullness of the Divine after our time of worldly separation and redemption from sin. It also symbolizes resiliency, redemption, the ability to overcome, and the ability to be redeemed.
- The Phoenix also resembles depictions of the Holy Spirit in the likeness of a dove, by whom Christ, God, was incarnated in the womb of a human woman, the Virgin Mary.
- The blue surrounding the Phoenix may represent the water of the womb, by which God entered the world and took on our human likeness. There is a double meaning here, with the blue also symbolizing the waters of Baptism, by which we are reborn and received as Children of God.
- The rays emanating from the figure of the Sun (proceeding from the Father, as said in the Nicene Creed) in the center of these waters to the circular border represent the actions of the Holy Spirit during the Incarnation of Christ.
- These rays also illustrate the movement of God’s Divine Energies throughout all of existence, by which all moves and live, which we are able to call upon, and are able to experience directly.
- The abstract and symbolic representations of The Father and Holy Spirit are meant to emphasize God as something separate from what we are able to comprehend, and not human, as there is a tendency to anthropomorphize God, expecting the Divine to act as we humans would act. Only Christ is both God and Man, while the Father and Holy Spirit have exclusively Divine natures.
- The crosses on the left and right represent our dedication to maintaining the traditions of the Ancient Church, instituted by Christ, and passed by him to his Apostles approximately 2,000 years ago by the laying of hands, after which the Apostles then laid hands on Bishops, who have continued this tradition up unto the present day.
In this way, our logo may serve as a visual representation of our Theology of The Holy Trinity, representing not only God, but how all of existence resides inside of God, and how the Three separate persons of the Trinity are of One Being.
Understanding this oneness can help to put into context how different religions may be connected, as it offers the perspective that various Spiritual and Physical entities may exist, all within the One Supreme Divinity from which all has sprung forth.
